Grouped by what you are actually trying to find out. The answers are short where the honest answer is short, and none of them is a sales pitch with a question mark in front of it.
Questions by topic
- Do I need an account to look around?
- No. The whole catalogue, every character page, the comparisons, the journal and the glossary are open to read with nothing signed and nothing entered. You can also view one delayed, prepared character introduction and explore the tool demonstrations before signing in.
- What happens when I do have to sign up?
- The gate links to a separate registration or login page. Register with email and a password and confirm eligibility and the terms. After signing in, return to the original screen and repeat your action.
- Passwords are entered only on account pages. Signed-in users continue directly without re-entering an email. There is no payment form on this site.
- Is it free?
- Reading anything here is free and always will be. Nothing on this domain takes payment: there is no checkout, no processor and no billing page. Where a paid tier exists, it belongs to the service you continue into, under that service's own terms.
- How old do I have to be?
- Eighteen. This is not a soft guideline — it is the eligibility rule for the service, and every character published here has a stated age of eighteen or over. A build-time check refuses to compile the site if any record says otherwise.
- Are the characters real people?
- No. Every character is written, and every image is generated. No real person is depicted, which is also the basis of the exemption statement in the legal section.
- Can I tell how popular a character is?
- You can see relative signals — where a character ranks inside a tag, whether it is trending this week, and the month it was added. You will not see a view count, a like count or a number of people currently chatting.
- That is deliberate. Early in a site's life those numbers are small and misleading, and inventing larger ones is the kind of thing that gets a domain removed from search results. A rank is true at any scale, so we show ranks.
- Does the character remember what I told it?
- This site does not accept messages or run a conversation. It shows one prepared introduction. Conversation and any memory features belong to the partner service, whose capabilities you should check there.
- The glossary entry on memory and the journal piece on context windows explain why, and the explanation is worth ten minutes because it changes how you write.
- Can I make my own character?
- The creator offers five public demo steps: style, appearance, personality, voice and summary. Each has a prepared illustration. Completing its demonstration opens the account gate; actual creation takes place on the partner service.
- Do you run the chat service yourself?
- No, and it would be dishonest to imply otherwise. This site is a catalogue and a set of guides. When you go further than reading, you are handed to a partner service that runs the conversation, and we are paid for that referral.
- That relationship is disclosed here, on the about page and in the terms rather than buried in a footnote.
- Will I be redirected somewhere without asking?
- No. There are no timed redirects, no scroll-triggered redirects and no redirects on page load anywhere on this site. You move to a partner service only after you have deliberately done something, and you can always see where you are going.
- Why is there no community server or social account?
- Because we decided not to have one. There is a single email address instead, it is monitored, and a reply comes from a person.
- It is a real trade-off — a community would be useful — but running one properly is a different job from writing a catalogue, and half-running one is worse than not having it.
- Are the comparison tables trustworthy?
- They are trustworthy about what they claim, which is narrow on purpose. We record whether a product has a capability, using its own published pages, and we never publish a score.
- Rows we have not verified say so rather than guessing, and prices are not in the tables at all because they change faster than a static page can follow.
- What do you store about me?
- Registered accounts store an email and a password hash, with session and handover records. Tool drafts may stay in your browser tab. This site does not store conversations, generated media or payment details.
- The privacy policy is the authoritative answer and the one to read before the summary.
- Can I have my data deleted?
- Yes. Write to the address on the contact page and say what you want removed. Depending on where you live you may also have a statutory right to this, which the privacy policy sets out.
- How do I report something?
- Use the content removal route for anything that needs to come down, and the complaint route for everything else. Anything involving a minor or a non-consensual depiction goes through the urgent route and is acted on before the full assessment is finished.
- Is any of the content explicit?
- No. This site publishes written characters and generated portraits, and its own policies prohibit explicit material along with several other categories outright. What a partner service permits is governed by that service's rules, not ours.
